The Children's Hospital at Westmead is proud to share with you a video of drowning prevention strategies and data from a study of near drowning in children. This was the first study to look at near drowning in children from the three paediatric hospitals in New South Wales.
The study looked at:
• How children are gaining access to private pools
• The reported history of swimming lessons
• Who needed and received CPR and the level of CPR training
• Evidence of water in the lungs and the length of time underwater
• Detailed level of supervision for all children in all aquatic locations
